About Us
The story of Villa Vinea began in 2004, when Heiner Oberrauch discovered in the middle of Transylvania, near the city of Tîrgu-Mureș, a beautiful and promising place for quality wines.
“I fell in love with this area instantly and to this day I remember the first time I saw it: the enchanting landscape along the Târnava Mică River, bathed in a delicate light, with hills that reminded me of Tuscany. I decided to make it my home, to start a vineyard and to create unique wines with a special character, memorable for those who taste them”

The area is not only beautiful but also unique for vineyards, as well as climatic and geological conditions. The southwest-facing slopes with heights of over 300 meters offer the vines light and natural protection against the spring and autumn winds, and the brown soil with alternating layers of clay, impermeable marble, sandstone and sand, preserves heat and humidity. In Târnave, the foggy days that begin at the end of summer and continue until September and October, contribute to a slow ripening of the grapes, enhancing their aromas and acidity.
This blend of local / international experiences has also characterized the collaboration of the two winemakers – Celestino Lucin, declared oenologist of the year 2009 in Italy by the famous magazine Gambero Rosso – and Denes Mihaly, born and professionally dedicated to the vineyards of Târnave; the two, together, have succeeded in recent years, after a decade of effort, to produce several memorable and representative series of wines for this area.
